Education & Protection
Program Summary
Since the beginning of the conflict in March 2015, resulting in what is considered the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. An estimated 80 percent of the population – 24 million people – require some form of humanitarian or protection assistance, including 14.3 million who are in acute need.
Also, attacks on school children, teachers and education infrastructure is having a devastating impact on the country’s education system – and on the chances of millions of children to access learning.
Also, the damage and closure of schools are threatening children’s access to education, rendering them vulnerable to serious protection concerns.
YFCA under the Education & Protection program aims to help maintain basic education services, particularly in areas where schools are damaged, closed or unable to fully operate because of budget, payroll and other conflict-related constraints.
Also, to provide specialized assistance to people with specific protection needs, including the victims of violence, and monitor key protection issues (including violations of IHL/IHRL, displacement, vulnerable populations, GBV and child protection) in order to identify persons in need of assistance, inform the humanitarian response and advocate for the protection of civilians
