Food Security and Livelihood
(FSL)
Program Summary
Food insecurity is one of the main measures endorsed by the humanitarian actors to assess, allocate and evaluate the aid delivered to the targeted communities in Yemen. The Food security and Livelihood department aims to be actively engaged in all forms of food assistance starting from the in-kind food aid passing to the voucher approach and including the CTP such as CFW & UCT for work activities for the sake of improving the food security status among the most vulnerable groups.
YFCA Food security and livelihood program also helps to protect conflict-affected communities and facilitate humanitarian access to food and livelihood assistance through helping groups to become more resilient and decrease relying on humanitarian food assistance by encouraging youth-empowering and local production methods. One of our goals is also is to create capacity-building programs and post-distribution monitoring mechanism in order to increase community-level performance and accountability.
The program empowers farmers on how to diversify viable crops, make the best use of the local growing seasons, and preserve local natural resources. As for our bilateral relations with partners and stakeholders, YFCA is an active member of the Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) within the Food Security and Agriculture Cluster (FSAC) which assures that our implemented projects are aligned with the clusters’ recommendations and standards.
